RESEARCH ETHICS

The Research Ethics Committee (REC) of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) was established to oversee all research conducted within the institution, aiming to produce valid results while ensuring the welfare, dignity, and rights of research participants. Its establishment was approved by the Vice-Chancellor of UiTM in 2004. Presently, the REC operates as a unit under the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation). 

The REC's specific objectives include examining ethical issues in research proposals and ensuring that research projects at UiTM adhere to national and international guidelines outlined in the Good Clinical Practice Guideline by the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia and the Declaration of Helsinki by the World Medical Association (WMA).

All research proposals involving human subjects at UiTM must receive approval from the UiTM REC before commencement. Research utilizing MOH facilities necessitates approval from the Medical and Research Ethics Committee (MREC) of the MOH.
