The Degree Programs

Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and broadest discipline among the engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineers apply knowledge of mathematics and sciences to design and manufacture tools, engines, machines, and many other mechanical equipments and systems that improve our living standard.

In order to cater with the needs of high quality and competitive mechanical engineers in the local and international market, the faculty at present offers two bachelor programs, namely

EM220 - Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Mechanical and

EM241 - Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing) (Hons)

in Shah Alam and Penang campuses, respectively.

The programs prepare students with theoretical knowledge and necessary technical and soft skills for a rewarding career in engineering. Graduates of our programmes secure employment in oil and gas industries, building construction and services, utility companies, automotive industries, manufacturing sectors, marine industries, energy, building services, automation, metal industry, robotic, etc. Our graduates have the option to continue developing their professional career by engaging in professional activities or pursuing postgraduate studies.

Student Activities

All students are also required to undergo two extra curricular courses in the first two semesters. The students may choose any two courses of their interests from a very wide range of activities offered by the Student Affair Department of the University. These courses aim to nurture a more balance students with a strong academic capability and socials awareness. The students are also strongly encouraged to join any clubs and societies of their interests. There are many registered clubs and societies such as Sekretariat Mahasiswa Fakulti, Persatuan Siswa Siswi Kejuruteraan Mekanikal, Automotive Research and Testing Centre, ARTec Club, IMeche UiTM Student Chapter, Alternative Energy Research Centre, AERC Club, UiTM Eco-Planet, FKM Post Graduate Society, UiTM Bitara Racing Team, etc.

Engineering students are strongly encouraged to join registered professional bodies such as Institute of Engineering, Malaysia (IEM) Student Chapter UiTM. Many activities such as seminars, colloquiums and industrial visits are organized regularly.

Career Opportunities

The choices and career options are diverse. Graduates from this programme maybe employed in technical, engineering or management department. In addition to the traditional engineering functions such as design and manufacturing, engineers are also in demand in other areas such as sales, marketing, project management, business and administration and quality control manager. There is also a strong demand for good and analytical graduates in other fields and may follow a career path outside of the engineering field. With this degree qualification, a graduate may also become a researcher in a research institution or an academician in an institution of higher. learning. Graduates from the degree programme may further their studies in UiTM of other institution, leading to a Master’s degree and then continue to PhD.
