Discipline of Electronics

Introduction

The Discipline of Electronics is one of the five centers established at the Pusat Pengajian Kejuruteraan Elekrik. It offers academic programs with a specialization in electronics engineering.

Research Activities

In Shah Alam main campus, Discipline of Electronics offers a wide range of research in Electronics and Microelectronics fields. The main research fields in our departments are;

  • Device Development
  • Integrated Circuit Design
  • Material Fabrications

Facilities

There are several laboratories in Discipline of Electronics for practical sessions which are divided into two main uses, Teaching and Learning (T&L) and Research Activities.

Teaching and learning (T&L) laboratories;

The laboratories under T&L are mainly used for undergraduate programs

  • Electronics Laboratory
  • Network Laboratory
  • Microelectronics Laboratory
  • Undergraduate Project Laboratory

Research Activities Laboratory

NANO-ElecTronic Centre Lab

Research activities of NANO-ElecTronic Centre (NET) are aimed at developing nanomaterials, nanodevices, nanofabrications, nanoprocess, and nanocharacterizations. Currently, there are more than 50 researchers and students (final year project (FYP), MSc, and PhD) are doing their nanoelectronics related research at NET. With an aim to carry out focussed works in various nanoelectronic areas, the research and development activities of NET have been categorised in various research areas, which are listed below:

1) Nanodevices and nanofabrications

  • Solar cell
  • Sensor
  • Transistor
  • Capacitor
  • MEMS/NEMS

2) Nanomaterials

  • Nano oxide materials
  • Nano carbon materials
  • Nanocomposite materials

3) Nanoprocess

  • Solution-based Deposition
  • Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD)
  • DC/RF Magnetron Sputtering
  • Thermal/E-beam Evaporation
  • Cathodic Electrochemical Deposition
  • Annealing system (atmosphere and gas ambient)

4) Nanocharacterization

  • Field-Effect Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM)
  • Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) • Solar Simulator
  • I-V Measurement System
  • Impedance Spectroscopy
  • Ultraviolet-Visible-Near Infrared (UV-Vis-NIR) Spectroscopy
  • Sensor Measurement System (Optical, humidity, and gas)
  • Surface Profiler
