Research Collaboration Agreement Between Universiti Teknologi Mara and Infineon Technologies (M) Sdn. Bhd.

The initial contact was in March 2015 when Prof Ir. Dr. Norlida lead a team of 2 lecturers and 2 of her postgraduate students to visit Infineon Technologies (M) Sdn. Bhd which is in Melaka. Infineon Technologies (M) is the largest manufacturing site own by the headquarter from Germany known for their back-end process.

Their second site in Malaysia, which focuses on the front-end process, the wafer manufacturing, is in Kulim. Infineon's business segment is the semiconductor industry, which involves both development and production in both sites in Malaysia.

Prof Norlida's PhD student, Muhamad Syafiq Bin Rosman, who is currently pursuing his PhD and is expected to finish in 2021, is based in Infineon. The RCA is part of the agreement for Muhamad Syafiq to complete his research study topic, which governs the use of facilities, including technical advice and equipment. The primary purpose of the RCA is to protect the Intellectual Proprietary (IP) from both parties as well as build a connection between academic institutions and industry.
