Robotics Training Program Collaboration

In a significant step towards inclusive education and community rehabilitation, the College of  Engineering at UiTM joined hands with the Department of Social Welfare, Shah Alam, to organize a visit and meeting at the Community Rehabilitation Organization (PPDK) Sinar Harapan. The objective was to discuss and plan a groundbreaking Robotics Training Program tailored for students with special needs (OKU). This collaborative effort aims to empower and provide equal opportunities for these students, bridging the gap between technology and education.

On June 21, 2023, a group of four esteemed lecturers from the College of Engineering embarked on a visit to PPDK Sinar Harapan, located in Subang Pelangi, Shah Alam, Selangor. The meeting marked the beginning of an important collaboration between academia and the social welfare sector, setting the stage for a transformative educational journey.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the lecturers from the College of Engineering and Mr. Perkas Rao A/L Ramah, the Community Development Officer from the Department of Social Welfare, Shah Alam Branch. Together, they engaged in fruitful discussions about the program's intricacies, ranging from curriculum development to hands-on training sessions. The objective was to create a comprehensive program that would not only enhance the technical skills of the students but also nurture their creativity, problem-solving abilities, and self-confidence.

One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity to explore the facilities at PPDK Sinar Harapan, where the Robotics Training Program will be implemented. The lecturers had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the dedication and passion of the students and teachers. It was a heartwarming experience to observe how the students embraced the program and eagerly engaged with the robots, showcasing their potential and enthusiasm.

 

 

The collaborative effort between the College of Engineering and PPDK represents a significant stride towards inclusive education.
