Jom Naik Public Transport

"Jom Naik Public Transport!" is a program initiated from activities promoting public transportation among high school students in Shah Alam. Organized by students from the School of Civil Engineering at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as part of their Service-Learning Malaysia - University for Society (SULAM) project, this program involved 22 students from a selected high school, SMK Seksyen 24 (2) in Shah Alam.

Among the activities conducted were briefings to students about public transportation services and the procedures for boarding public buses, an innovation activity to design the Smart Selangor Bus, a quiz session, and a banner-signing session for the "Jom Naik Public Transport" campaign.

The program was a collaborative effort with the Shah Alam City Council (Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam, MBSA), aiming to increase awareness and usage of public transportation among young people. The collaboration with MBSA provided valuable resources and expertise to ensure the success of the program. This initiative not only educated students on the benefits and usage of public transport but also encouraged creative thinking through the bus design activity and fostered a sense of community engagement through the banner-signing event.

Overall, "Jom Naik Public Transport!" was a comprehensive educational and promotional campaign to instil the importance and advantages of using public transportation in the younger generation.
