Trash to Treasure Program Recap
On 11th May 2024, students from the School of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, UiTM, organized the “Trash to Treasure” program at SK Seafield 3 in Subang Jaya. This collaborative initiative brought together Persatuan Ibu Bapa dan Guru (PIBG), SK Seafield 3, Presidency University (India), and Macro Dimension Concrete Sdn. Bhd (MDC). The objective of the program was to perform maintenance on the concrete floor in classrooms, addressing cracks and holes. This sustainable project utilized waste concrete to replace normal concrete, followed by applying SIKA215 as a finishing layer.
The initiative aimed to reduce construction waste and promote a circular economy, involving teachers and parents in a community effort during the gotong-royong PIBG event. The program was advised by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐍𝐮𝐫 𝐈𝐳𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢 𝐀𝐛 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐢 and saw active participation from SULAM students Christina Sebai Anak Janang, Elisabeel Badoi, Nur Asyiqin Binti Mohd Sani, Nur Azwaniza Binti Abdullah, and San Nur Binti Nordin.
The “Trash to Treasure” program successfully demonstrated the power of communal collaboration and sustainable practices in construction.
