3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)
Service-Learning Program Malaysia University for Society (SULAM) "Engineering 5.0", which took place at SMK Jalan Tiga, Bangi, on 4 June 2024, becomes a platform to strengthen the relationship between education and society. Through activities such as lectures, competitions, and exhibitions, the final-year students of Civil Engineering Studies contributed their knowledge and skills in solving local problems, particularly in environmental and infrastructure awareness.
Lecture on 3R awareness (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) by Syarikat Alam Flora Sdn. Bhd., as well as road construction and maintenance by JKR, provides an in-depth revelation to the students of SMK Jalan Tiga about responsibility towards the environment and the importance of infrastructure. Competitions like Rocket Water and Explorace reinforce holistic learning and allow students to apply knowledge practically.
Cooperation with the Selangor State Department of Public Works and Syarikat Alam Flora Sdn. Bhd. gives students an opportunity to learn from industry experts. Presentation of prizes to winners and recognition to involved parties recognising students' efforts and achievements and igniting community spirit in supporting education. Under the guidance of Ir Dr. Nur Syahiza Zainuddin and program director, Muhammad Amar bin Nor Mohamad Zazali and all committee members, this program is expected to have a lasting impact in shaping a responsible and competitive future generation.
The SULAM program "Engineering 5.0" shows how cooperation between educational institutions, industry, and communities produces great benefits. Through this initiative, students not only receive theoretical education but also valuable practical experience, making them better prepared for real-world challenges. SULAM "Engineering 5.0" is a great example of how education can play a significant role in building a vibrant and sustainable society.
