The Faculty of Chemical Engineering was established in June 2003. It started as a department under the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering when the programme of Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Chemical was first introduced in June 2000.

The academic programmes offered have been revised in line with the science and technology developments and the current industrial needs to provide the highest level of chemical engineering courses. Apart from producing graduates at the diploma and degree level, the faculty also offer postgraduate programmes.  The MSc and PhD in chemical engineering began its intake in December 2002.  Our Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) programmes are accredited by both Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) and Institution of Chemical Engineers, UK (IChemE).

In parallel with the country’s move towards a more industrialized nation especially in the chemical sub-sector, the faculty with its outstanding list of lecturers and excellent laboratory facilities, aims to be a leading institution in producing semi-professional and professional, innovative and ethical chemical engineers.
